● Alive v. 3 yrs & counting Degen & memecoins

Larp

To pretend to be something one is not, in the trenches specifically to claim to be a developer, an insider or an early holder without evidence. The word came from forums, where it described people posing as authorities, and fitted memecoin culture at once: a pseudonymous account claiming to know a coin's team is 'larping' until a wallet or a screenshot says otherwise. Also the noun for the claim.

The accusation is cheap and the defence is expensive, which is why the word is so common. Proving you are not larping means revealing something; the accuser reveals nothing. The record notes the word is applied to the honest and the dishonest with equal confidence.

An account in 2024 claiming to have 'talked to the dev', asked for proof, replying 'not gonna larp for you' and then continuing to claim it. The record files this as the term used in both directions in one thread.
