Tush Push

The Philadelphia Eagles' short-yardage play — quarterback Jalen Hurts snapped, then shoved forward by two teammates — nicknamed the 'tush push' or the 'brotherly shove' in 2022, over 90 per cent successful, and the subject of a league ban vote in May 2025 that fell two votes short. The record's entry for a rugby scrum that became an NFL culture war.

It is not illegal, has never been illegal, and was voted on twice. The record notes that the Packers proposed the ban and that the Packers had tried the play and fallen over.

I saved a screenshot of the first Tush Push post I saw. Looking at it now, the joke is entirely in the timing. The timing does not survive the screenshot.

Definition @threads_thea · Lurker 22 May 2023

The record notes the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX in February 2025 while every other team argued the play was unfair, and that 'unfair' in the NFL means 'we can't do it'.
