Sora Shutdown

well deserved thingy.

I watched a friend try to export everything he had made before the 26th. Most of it was cameos of himself. He kept about a tenth.

Sora, the app, 2026. Announced dead on 24 March, dead on 26 April, with the API given until 24 September to follow. Survived by the Sora Cameo, which is filed separately, and by every video it made that nobody can now trace.

The record notes that a product shutting down is not usually a meme, but Sora had spent its life producing memes, so the notice became one too. The month between announcement and closure was spent generating things to say goodbye with.

First seen 24 March 2026 as a screenshot of the announcement, then through April as clips captioned as the last thing anyone would make with it. Several were not, because the API ran on.
