A 'real' Instagram — the polished, public account a teenager keeps for grandparents, college admissions and the general audience, as opposed to the finsta, where the actual person lives. Coined around 2016 as the back-formation from finsta, it named the oddity that the fake account was honest and the real one was staged. The record notes the word is dying because the rinsta itself became the account nobody posts on.
The record notes that a rinsta has 400 followers and eleven posts, a finsta has 40 followers and 900 posts, and that this is the whole sociology of Instagram in two numbers.
Minor, but the record should note that Rinsta predates the date most people give it. I have a post from 2016 and I suspect there are earlier ones. Correcting the born field is above my pay grade.
