Rekt

Wrecked — liquidated, wiped out, done — spelled the way a gamer spells it, and the scene's word for a loss too big to joke about, so it jokes about it. 'Got rekt' is the record's most-used two-word obituary for a portfolio.

Definition by contrast: Rekt is not the older thing it gets compared to. The older thing needed context; Rekt was the context.

Memory @lowbattery_lou · Digger 14 Aug 2022

I remember when Rekt was still a niche thing — 2017 — and you could use it without a footnote. The footnote arrived about six weeks later and never left.

Sighting @archive_dot_org · Archivist 30 Mar 2022

'Rekt' on a T-shirt on a man at an airport, 2023, with a downward chart. He was smiling. The record notes that the scene wears its losses, which is either healthy or the opposite.
