Redfall

Arkane Austin's vampire co-op shooter, released in May 2023 at 30 frames per second on a console sold on 60, always online, with enemies that stood still and a studio that had not wanted to make it. The record's entry for the Xbox launch that made Phil Spencer apologise on a podcast, and for the closure of the studio in May 2024, a year to the month.

Obituary @matcha_martha · Lurker 20 Nov 2024

Died in May 2024, when Microsoft closed the studio that had made Prey and cancelled the game's promised offline mode. The mode was later added by the remaining staff as a farewell. The record filed the patch notes.

Memory @algospeak_alice · Poster 13 Jun 2024

I remember the 2021 reveal trailer with the four heroes and a town, and the same trailer being reposted in 2023 with the word 'this' and a screenshot of the actual town.

Definition @geocities_widow · Archivist 9 Dec 2023

The record notes that Redfall was the first major Xbox exclusive of its generation, and that the internet remembers it chiefly for that sentence being true.

Sighting @linkedin_lunatic · Poster 2 Jul 2023

May 2023: a clip of a vampire floating in a T-pose while the player reloads, and a second of an enemy staring at a wall. Phil Spencer says on a podcast that he is 'upset with myself'.
