Danced at a UK anime convention in 2017 by a group who had learned it from a Bilibili upload, subtitles and all.

The dance is the transmissible part. A choreography video needs no translation, which is why it crossed a language border that the lyrics did not.

The virality is Chinese, not Japanese. The song was a Japanese release; the spoofs and copy-dances that made it a meme happened on Bilibili.
