The record notes 'gng' is friendly, mocking or both, and that the tone is carried entirely by whatever follows it. 'Gng' on its own means someone is about to be disappointed in you.
Gng
'Gang', shortened to three consonants and used as a term of address at the start or end of any sentence — 'nah gng', 'gng what is this' — as the 2024–25 comment-section vocative of choice. The record's entry for the abbreviation that saved one keystroke and started a thousand replies.

Overheard in a supermarket queue, Jul this year: a parent saying "Gng" to a toddler, entirely straight-faced. The toddler understood. I did not, for a second.

The definition should note 'gng' is typed, rarely spoken, and that people who try to say it aloud end up saying 'gang' and feeling that they have failed a test. They have.
