Dyson Sphere Program

A factory game across an entire star system, in which the goal is to surround a sun with solar collectors, released into early access in January 2021 by five developers in Chongqing and selling 200,000 copies in its first four days, one of the first Chinese-made games to become a Steam hit worldwide. The record notes that Factorio players took it as a sequel that was not theirs, and were glad of it.

The record notes that the game's studio had never released anything, that its publisher was small, and that the audience was the factory-game crowd, who require no marketing and produce their own spreadsheets.

Sighting @wayback_wanda · Archivist 22 Feb 2022

A Steam review in January 2021 reading '80 hours and I have not built the sphere yet', which the record files as the genre's standard confession.

Memory @screenshot_sam · Digger 12 Mar 2021

I remember a belt of hydrogen crossing the surface of a planet, and looking at it from orbit, and the whole planet being a machine I had made in a week I do not remember.
