Content Warning

A co-op horror game in which you film monsters for views, released free for one day on April Fools' and downloaded by millions. The record's entry for a game whose premise — filming horror for an audience — was also its marketing, and for the day everyone had it.

Correction to the headnote: Content Warning was not coined, it was noticed. Someone said it, someone else screenshotted it, and the screenshot is the coinage.

Obituary @wayback_wanda · Archivist 23 Dec 2024

Died in a season, like its cousins. But the record notes that a game about making content for views was, for a week, the most-watched content on the platform, and that this is either a joke or a thesis.

Memory @main_character · Poster needs source 12 Jun 2024

I remember when Content Warning was still a niche thing — April 2024 — and you could use it without a footnote. The footnote arrived about six weeks later and never left.
