Cash Cat
A community memecoin on Robinhood Chain built on one fact: before it was Robinhood, the app was going to be called Cash Cat, a mascot with a fistful of money, as co-founder Vlad Tenev confirmed in April 2021. When Robinhood Chain opened in July 2026 the cat was among the first tokens deployed, with a fixed supply of one billion and no purpose beyond the joke. It went vertical on 8 July after Tenev posted that the chain was built for real-world assets but 'works great for memes too', a sentence the market read as a wink. By August it had six figures of holders and was the chain's second-largest coin. Not affiliated with Robinhood, which the token's own site repeats.

Two things to keep apart. The lore, that Cash Cat was Robinhood's working name, is confirmed by Tenev himself. The token is a community deployment with a disclaimer saying it is not affiliated with Robinhood or Tenev. The first is history; the second is a bet on the first.

Seen on 8 July 2026: the Tenev post, then a chart that trackers variously called a 1,300% and a 1,900% day, then a hundred accounts explaining that the CEO had not actually said the word 'cat'. He had not. It did not matter.

The pitch is the name, and the name is real: Robinhood nearly launched as Cash Cat. That is a better origin story than most memecoins manage, and it costs nothing to verify. 'They called it Cash Cat first' is the slogan; the ticker did the rest.
