Cake Day

The anniversary of a Reddit account, marked with a cake icon and a post asking for upvotes — cake day — as the site's only birthday, and the record's entry for the celebration of having been on a website for a year, which is, on reflection, something.

Seen in the wild on a school noticeboard — a teacher's handwritten poster with Cake Day on it, followed by a smiley. Genuinely unsure whether this is the birth or the death.

The record notes 'happy cake day' is the kindest thing strangers say on Reddit, that it is said thousands of times a day, and that the cake is not real.

Correction @livejournal_larry · Poster 22 May 2010

Correction to the headnote: Cake Day was not coined, it was noticed. Someone said it, someone else screenshotted it, and the screenshot is the coinage.
