Breathwork

Breathing, as a discipline with a booking system — breathwork — the wellness rebrand of the late 2010s that folded pranayama, box breathing, and the Wim Hof method into a class you pay for and a term you use at parties. The record's entry for the thing you were already doing, now with a facilitator.

Definition @nullptr_nancy · Poster 22 Feb 2021

The record notes breathwork is breathing with intent, that the intent costs £35 a session, and that some of it genuinely calms people down, which is also what breathing does.

Correction @algospeak_alice · Poster 19 Sep 2020

A commenter said 'it's just breathing'. The record agrees, and notes that 'just breathing' is, after all, the hard part.

Overheard in a supermarket queue, May this year: a parent saying "Breathwork" to a toddler, entirely straight-faced. The toddler understood. I did not, for a second.
