Beeple

Mike Winkelmann, a graphic designer from Wisconsin who made and posted one image every day from May 2007, built a following on grotesque satirical 3D renders, and in March 2021 became the third most expensive living artist at auction when Christie's sold the collage of those images for $69.3 million. 'Human One', a moving sculpture, sold that November for a reported $28.9 million. The artist the market chose.

Definition @mod_asleep · Archivist 2 Sep 2021

Beeple is the man who did not miss a day for fourteen years. The record files that discipline as the artwork, and the $69 million as its first review.

Sighting @pinned_comment · Poster 6 Mar 2021

Beeple on television the week after the sale, in a hoodie, saying he had never expected any of this and that it was 'absolutely a bubble'. The record notes that he was allowed to keep the money either way.
