'Anonymous', shortened — the name every poster had on a board without names, and therefore the address for anyone: 'anon, are you okay?' The record's entry for the pronoun of the nameless, which became a way of speaking to a stranger with care.

I saved a screenshot of the first Anon post I saw. Looking at it now, the joke is entirely in the timing. The timing does not survive the screenshot.
