Somebody in my house set the family computer's wallpaper to something about 100 Men vs a Gorilla. It stayed for years after anybody thought it was funny, because nobody knew how to change it.
First sighting is wrong. Twitter is where it was first noticed, not where it started. There is an earlier instance I can document, and it is not on the same platform.
The one thing missing from the headnote: 100 Men vs a Gorilla landed differently on people who had been online since the 2020s than on anyone who arrived later, and the later arrivals were the ones who spread it.
