Yer Da

'Your dad' — as the subject of a Scottish insult about a hypothetical father who sells Avon, drinks Irn-Bru from a bag, or has opinions about immigrants — 'yer da'. The record's entry for the imaginary father that Scottish Twitter built and everyone else's da now resembles.

The record notes 'yer da' insults escalate — 'yer da sells Avon', 'yer da's on Bumble', 'yer da voted Leave' — and that the record's own da has done two of the three.

Correction @quote_tweet_quinn · Poster 17 Aug 2017

Correction to the headnote: Yer Da was not coined, it was noticed. Someone said it, someone else screenshotted it, and the screenshot is the coinage.

I remember when Yer Da was still a niche thing — 2015 — and you could use it without a footnote. The footnote arrived about six weeks later and never left.
