Split (Speedrun)

A checkpoint in a speedrun at which the timer records the elapsed time, and the column of green and red numbers down the side of every speedrun stream since the WSplit timer of 2008 and LiveSplit of 2013. The record notes that 'gold splits' are the fastest segments ever run and that no one has ever put them together in one run.

The record notes the split is the reason a speedrun viewer can tell a run is dead before the runner says so, and that the runner says so anyway.

The definition implies everyone used Split (Speedrun) the same way. They did not. There were at least two camps by the second month, and they did not like each other.

There was a version of Split (Speedrun) that went round my family group chat about a month late, presented as new. I did not correct anyone. It was, for them, new, and that has to count for something.
