Sound

Good, decent, reliable — 'he's sound' — as the Northern and Irish word for the highest praise a person can receive without emotion, and the record's entry for the adjective that means 'you can trust him' in one syllable. 'Sound as a pound' is the full form.

The record spells it one way; the original post spelled it another. I would keep the original, typo and all. The typo is the provenance.

My first sighting was 1990, in a reply from someone I have never met, and I understood it immediately. That is the closest thing to magic the internet still does.

The record notes 'sound' is the Northern 'safe', the Irish 'grand' and the Scottish 'nae bother' all at once, and that a person described as sound has never let anyone down.
