The sarcasm tag — '/s' at the end of a sentence — from a joke HTML closing tag into the internet's most-argued-about punctuation: necessary, say some; ruins the joke, say others. The record's entry for the mark that tells you it was a joke, which was, itself, the joke.
My first sighting was 2010, in a reply from someone I have never met, and I understood it immediately. That is the closest thing to magic the internet still does.
The record notes that '/s' has saved a thousand arguments and killed a thousand jokes, and that both sides are right, and that the record uses it never /s.
