OMW

'On my way' — the text sent by a person who is not yet on their way, as a promise rather than a report. The record's entry for the three letters that mean 'in about fifteen minutes', and the phone's autocorrect of 'omw' to 'On my way!' with an exclamation mark nobody wanted.

There was a version of OMW that went round my family group chat about a month late, presented as new. I did not correct anyone. It was, for them, new, and that has to count for something.

Correction @wormsign · Archivist 25 Nov 2012

Correction to the headnote: OMW was not coined, it was noticed. Someone said it, someone else screenshotted it, and the screenshot is the coinage.

Definition @kym_lurker · Archivist 9 Jun 2012

The record notes that 'omw' is sent from the sofa in roughly forty per cent of cases, by the record's own survey of itself.
