MrBeast iPhone Deepfake, October 2023. Died of its subject having a bigger audience than the platform's ad review. Survived by a year of copycats using smaller creators who could not do the same.
MrBeast iPhone Deepfake
A TikTok advert in October 2023 showing a deepfaked MrBeast announcing that ten thousand people could get an iPhone 15 for two dollars, with his logo and a link. He posted the clip himself asking whether platforms were ready for the rise of AI deepfakes, which was the most-viewed thing about it. The record's entry for the scam that borrowed the internet's most trusted giveaway.
Testimony
3 entries · newest firstOctober 2023, the creator's post with millions of views and the ad itself with a fraction. The debunk outperformed the scam, which is not the usual order.
The record notes why he was the ideal target: his real videos already give away cars and houses, so an offer that would be absurd from anyone else was plausible from him.
