A music video re-sung with new lyrics that describe, deadpan, exactly what is happening on screen, with no relation to the original words. A whole late-2000s genre built on the fact that most music videos make no sense when narrated aloud.
Died around 2013. The genre had exactly one joke, executed well perhaps a dozen times and badly several hundred, and it left no way to develop and nowhere to go.
A friend sent me one in 2009 with no message. I watched it four times and then could not hear the actual song again for about a decade.
The format works best on videos with the largest budgets, because expensive nonsense is funnier to describe than cheap nonsense. Eighties rock videos were the natural prey.
What does it mean? Write it the way you would say it out loud.
