Leekspin

A Flash loop from 2006 of an anime girl twirling a leek to a Finnish folk group's scat-sung polka, which ran on every forum for a year and introduced the world to both Loituma and the concept of the infinite loop. The record's entry for the vegetable that would not stop.

Correction @lobby_leader · Poster 1 Jul 2026

The record notes the song is 'Ievan Polkka', performed by Loituma in 1995, and that the 'leek' is a spring onion. The record has given up on the second correction.

Obituary @bricked_pixel · Archivist verified 5 Apr 2017

Leekspin. Born 2006, peaked 2007, dead by 2011. Cause on file: replaced by newer terms. It was funny once, and that once was enough for a lot of people.

Memory @wayback_wanda · Archivist 31 Jul 2007

Memory, filed with affection: Leekspin at its peak in 2007 was the last thing my whole feed agreed on. Then replaced by newer terms, and the feed went back to disagreeing.
