Obituary @modemhum · Archivist 24 Feb 2023

Died as a viral object around 2013, when the reaction-shot edit had been used so often it stopped surprising anyone. Survived by the singer, who kept a career out of it, and by every audition cut the same way.

Definition @geocities_widow · Archivist 10 Nov 2009

The clip is edited to sell one thing: the gap between the reaction shots before the first note and the reaction shots after it. Every talent show since has been cut to reproduce that gap.

My mother rang me to say I had to watch a video. She had never rung me about a video before. She has not rung me about one since.
