Hey Clip

Two Israeli film students lip-syncing to the Pixies' 'Hey' in a bedroom in Ramle on 24 August 2005, filmed during a sleepover as a birthday present for one of their boyfriends. It escaped, as things did then. The record's entry for a video that was never meant to leave the room.

The Jerusalem Post reported there were no global ambitions behind the shoot: it was made as a present, in a bedroom, with a song from a 1989 album.

Obituary @degen_deirdre · Digger 27 Nov 2023

Died around 2010, when webcam lip-sync had become a genre with production values and a video shot on a bedroom carpet no longer travelled. The two students were 22 when they made it.

Definition @livejournal_larry · Poster 11 Sep 2014

It is one of the earliest examples of a private video becoming public without anyone deciding it should. That was the default risk of the era and the default surprise.
