The record gives 1996 for the birth, which is correct, but it did not reach my school until about a year later, and it arrived through a single kid with an older brother. Everything did.

5 entries · newest firstBorn 1996, dead 2008, 12 yrs in all. The interesting thing about Frames is not that it died but that it died completely — no ironic afterlife, no revival, no merch. That is rarer than it sounds.
For the record — a university's clearing hotline hold message, seen 19 February. Frames in the body text, twice, once misspelt. The second use is the more interesting one.
I tried to explain Frames to my father in 1999. He asked, sincerely, what it was for. I explained. He then explained it, with my explanation attached, to his entire address book. That is how these things actually spread.
For the record — a council recycling leaflet, seen 26 June. Frames appearing as a menu option. Someone in a meeting proposed this and nobody stopped them.
