Crying Laughing Emoji

😂 — the face with tears of joy, the most-used emoji on Earth for a decade and the Oxford Dictionaries' word of the year in 2015, now considered by anyone under twenty-five to be the laugh of a parent. The record's entry for the face that won and then aged.

Minor, but the record should note that Crying Laughing Emoji predates the date most people give it. I have a post from October 2010 and I suspect there are earlier ones. Correcting the born field is above my pay grade.

The record notes 😂 was declared 'for boomers' by TikTok in 2021, that 💀 replaced it, and that it is still the most-used emoji in the world, because the world is mostly not on TikTok.

For whoever reads this in ten years: Crying Laughing Emoji arrived in October 2010 and for about a month it was the only correct response to anything. Then it became a response to itself.
