I tried to explain Cancelled to my father in 2019. He asked, sincerely, what it was for. I explained. He then explained it, with my explanation attached, to his entire address book. That is how these things actually spread.

The peak year should be 2020, not 2019. Search interest, archive frequency and my own logs all agree; 2019 is when the early adopters peaked, which is not the same thing.
