Two-factor authentication — the six-digit code from an app or text that stands between your password and your account, which Google offered everyone in February 2011 and which everyone turned on after being hacked, not before. The record notes '2FA' entered ordinary speech around 2020, that 'do you have 2FA' is now what 'do you have a lock' used to be, and that the code always arrives on the phone in the other room.
'My 2FA is on my old phone' as a reason a person could not log into anything, 2022. The record notes the old phone was in a drawer in another country.
Proposed amendment: the definition should note that 2FA was funny for exactly as long as it went unexplained. This entry is, unavoidably, part of the problem.
