    Wow. Tell them you have a pirated copy of one of their old games, and they thank you for supporting them. I think I just gained a whole new respect for SEGA…

    Seriously, These game companies don’t give a crap about people having roms of their old games that don’t make any more money for them.

    It’s not necessarily a pirate copy. Perhaps he actually owns it on XBox already. He even may own the Genesis cartridge as well.

    And they asked politely for you to buy a legal copy in a way that they’ll get some money from it. I agree, Ferret. Perfectly respectable. They are perfectly aware of what is and what isn’t possible in this age of the Internet, and this is their perfect comprimise that lets them keep the revenue coming in without alienating their fanbase.
