Apple's music program, launched in January 2001, whose store from 2003 sold songs for 99 cents and killed the album, and which then absorbed video, podcasts, apps, books, a social network and phone backups until it was the most-hated piece of software on the Mac and the most-installed on Windows. Replaced by three apps in October 2019. The record notes 'a new version of iTunes is available' was the most-ignored sentence of the 2000s.
