Things That Every Geek Should Know
If you consider yourself a geek, or aspire to the honor of geekhood, here’s an essential checklist of must-have geek skills.
The term ‘geek’, once used to label a circus freak, has morphed in meaning over the years. What was once an unusual profession transferred into a word indicating social awkwardness. As time has gone on, the word has yet again morphed to indicate a new type of individual: someone who is obsessive over one (or more) particular subjects, whether it be science, photography, electronics, computers, media, or any other field. A geek is one who isn’t satisfied knowing only the surface facts, but instead has a visceral desire to learn everything possible about a particular subject. Rest and Source

MUST READ
Q) Who Must?
A) You must.
Welcome. I, Welcame too. (I was in the army. ) We ( i and some good people) changed the theme. We’ll edit it a lot more soon. We hope you liked the new theme. I want to answer frequently asked questions via this post.
Q1) Is “Sergey Page” your real name? Are you Russian?
A1) Nope. It’s combination of Sergey Brin and Larry Page. (Founders of Google). It was more humorous before i explain it. I’m from Internet.
Q2) Where do you find the content of the Blog?
A2) Mostly i do. Sometimes from Internet.
Q3) Only you post?
A3) Yes for now. But new friends are coming.
Q4) Do you make money?
A4) I love internet. I want Internet Business as extra. But i’m in “Health” business. (and happy and good at it) This blog makes a few bucks. This site deserves to be more than a “spare time” site. I blog in my spare time. But i want to take the blog more serious. Wow! I liked my voice.
Q5) Daily Unique Visitor of GUI?
A5) Average 1500. It has to be at least 50.000 hits a day to think that GUI is a serious blog. I can get 50.000 hits via social media buzz but the most important visitors are “direct visitors” and i have to focuse on it. BoingBoing.net makes more than 1 million dollars a year, Tech Crunch makes more than 400.000 dollars a month and many more. Blogging is still an effective of mmo (making money online). You can see our visitor numbers via sitemeter icon at footer.
“We have to reach 50.000 daily hits in a few months” Sergey Page.
“or Give Up Internet? Nope for now.” Sergey Page.
Q6) What can you do for GiveUpInternet.com?
A6) Write about GUI at your blog maybe. Add GUI pages to social media sites. Stumble , Reddit, Digg, Tweet, Face the site. Word of mouth is effective. Tell your friends about GUI. Say that,” they’re really serious for this time”. (but don’t lol).
Q7) Expectation?
A7)
1-) Making GUI #1 Internet Humor Site. ( Humor for Developers and Internet People)
2-) At least 50.000 daily unique visitors in a few months.
3-) Making the template better.
4-) Creating T-Shirts, Tea Cups, New Categories and Great Content.
5-) New Authors.
6-) 7 Page Rank.
8 -) A lot of direct visitors.
9-) 50k Alexa Rank.
10-) a GUI, loller Than Ever.
Thank You Guys for Reading. You’re Awesome for now.

Europe Tells Obama To Give Up Internet, Preps Microsoft Hearing
An ordinary story; “ The US military and academia may have given the world the internet, but the European Commission’s media and telco commissioner Vivianne Reding has called on President Obama to hand over control of internet domain names and IP addresses to a proposed new international body. Control of the underlying network infrastructure was passed from the US government to California-based non-profit ICANN in 1998, but this term ends on September 30 and Reding wants a new system managed by a “G12 for Internet Governance”.
Reding in the release: “I trust that President Obama will have the courage, the wisdom and the respect for the global nature of the internet to pave the way in September for a new, more accountable, more transparent, more democratic and more multilateral form of internet governance … In the long run, it is not defendable that the government department of only one country has oversight of an internet function which is used by hundreds of millions of people in countries all over the world.”
The commissioner’s proposed new agency would include two representatives each from North America, South America, Europe and Africa, three from Asia and Australia and the chair of ICANN itself, but as a non-voting member. And the commission will on Wednesday host a public hearing on internet governance in Brussels to take views on its proposals. Europe last called for internationalisation of ICANN in 2006. ” rest and source
Dell Discovers Ladies Use Computers For More Than Diet Tips
In response to widespread internet backlash, Dell has revised “Della,” its website marketing netbooks to women, purging it of references to calorie counting and shopping.
When Della launched earlier this week to promote the computer manufacturer’s line of Inspirion Mini 10 netbooks, the site included a video on shopping for vintage clothing and “Tech Tips” explaining how ladies could use this strange device, as of course, we don’t know how to use real laptops. Rest
@aplusk (Ashton Kutcher) Effect on Twitter | Delays when following or unfollowing
“Due to the incredible rate of follows & unfollows of @aplusk, some users may experience a delay before the follow or unfollow takes effect. We’re working to speed this up; sorry for the inconvenience.” via status.twitter.com
Give Up Internet‘s Note;
Ashton Kutcher, not that bad at internet.
Twitter has stopped displaying what the site’s power users call “@replies” — messages broadcast in public, but directed at a specific user — when the viewer doesn’t also follow the message’s target. Twitter users will still see conversations, but only when they happen entirely within their social circle.
“You can no longer easily eavesdrop on conversations with strangers. Hurrah!
Technically, Twitter has stopped displaying what the site’s power users call “@replies” — messages broadcast in public, but directed at a specific user — when the viewer doesn’t also follow the message’s target. Twitter users will still see conversations, but only when they happen entirely within their social circle.
For the attention-deficited social butterflies of Silicon Valley, this is a horrible development: They can no longer ignore their existing friends in favor of constantly finding new ones.
But for the mass market Twitter hopes to tap, this is a great thing. New users find Twitter overwhelming and confusing; some 60 percent drop out after signing up, according to Nielsen, which means Twitter is proving far less capable of retaining an audience than Facebook or MySpace. These Twitter quitters mean that Twitter’s growth lies on the edge of a knife. While its traffic numbers are growing at an unheard-of pace, it could lose its audience all too easily. “ Rest at ValleyWag
